Carport Prices

Whether it’s a steel carport or a conventional wood structure, a carport offers a great solution to most outside storage issues. There are several options available to you in choosing the proper construction. Probably the best bang for your buck in terms of quality and longevity is a metal carport. They are relatively cheap and long lasting and are usually available in a large selection of sizes and styles.

A carport constructed out of wood is most common in the U.S. and that’s not only because of it’s sturdiness. Conventional wooden carports can easily be constructed to match the facade of your home. A major downside to traditional wood carports these days is the cost. The price of materials has increased substantially over the last few years. When you include the costs of finishing the carport as well as the necessary maintenance you’ll find that it’s one of the most expensive options. However, there is an upside as over the long run it will most likely add to your house’s value.

Depending on your neighborhood or homeowner association restrictions, you might only be able to construct a wooden carport. If that’s the case, you will probably need to hire the services of a contractor to apply for the building permits required by your town or municipality.

Metal carport kits can be found at most large hardware stores. But you’ll be able to compare pricing and features much easier online. Again, every town is different but you probably won’t find as many permitting/zoning restrictions with a metal carport.
In fact, a medium quality, single car port can cost as little as $1000. Construction time should be less than a day from start to finish and even a basic carport model will add some value to your home.

Now if your home is constructed of bricks or stones you might want to have a carport built with the same materials to match. If you’ve got the money, this is an excellent choice for adding value. But, you are limited in the size of the carport when using these materials and building a carport of brick or stone could cost as much as building a small house.
